Sony Pictures in talks for Ridley Scott Treasure Island film

Sony Pictures is in negotiations to acquire Ridley Scott's Treasure Island movie package starring Hugh Jackman.

Sony Pictures is in negotiations to land the project with Scott directing and Jackman playing the pirate Long John Silver. Jack Thorne wrote the adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's novel.

Scott and Michael Pruss are producing through the Scott Free banner. Sony declined to comment on the talks.

Deadline first reported last month that Scott had declared the film his next project after being impressed by Thorne’s script. 20th Century passed on it due to a competing pirates project at Disney.

Sony was high on the package from the start given Scott’s long-standing relationship with studio head Tom Rothman.
