Zack Snyder to direct Escape From New York reimagining

Zack Snyder is set to write and direct a reimagining of the 1981 film Escape From New York. StudioCanal made the announcement at CinemaCon in April.

The project will star an updated version of the antihero Snake Plissken. John Carpenter, who directed the original, is attached as executive producer. The Picture Company’s Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman are producing through their deal with StudioCanal, which shares rights with Carpenter. Snyder, Deborah Snyder and Wesley Coller will produce via Stone Quarry.
