Zack Snyder écrira et réalisera une nouvelle version du film New York 1997, sorti en 1981. StudioCanal a fait cette annonce lors du CinemaCon en avril.

Le projet mettra en scène une version actualisée de l'anti-héros Snake Plissken. John Carpenter, qui a réalisé le film original, est attaché au projet en tant que producteur exécutif. Andrew Rona et Alex Heineman, de The Picture Company, assurent la production dans le cadre de leur accord avec StudioCanal, qui partage les droits avec Carpenter. Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder et Wesley Coller produiront le film via Stone Quarry.
