Masters of the Universe prêt pour ses débuts au cinéma ce week-end

Le reboot de Masters of the Universe par Amazon MGM Studios devrait rapporter 30 millions de dollars aux États-Unis et 50 millions de dollars à l'échelle mondiale pour son ouverture. Le film arrive après près de 18 ans de développement par Escape Artists et Mattel Studios.

Les producteurs Robbie Brenner, Todd Black et Jason Blumenthal ont décrit le long parcours qui a débuté lorsque Mattel a laissé expirer ses droits chez Warner Bros. il y a près de deux décennies. Black et Blumenthal ont sécurisé le projet pour Sony en moins de 24 heures après un appel de l'agent Spencer Baumgarten. Le scénario a ensuite été transféré à Amazon MGM Studios, où Courtenay Valenti l'a approuvé dès sa première semaine de travail. Travis Knight a été choisi pour réaliser le film après que les frères Nee y aient été attachés par le passé. Tom Rothman a suggéré de placer Musclor (He-Man) sur Terre dans une histoire de poisson hors de l'eau. Nicholas Galitzine incarne Musclor aux côtés de Camila Mendes, Idris Elba, Alison Brie et Jared Leto dans le rôle de Skeletor. Les avant-premières débutent jeudi à 14h aux États-Unis, le film étant projeté dans 86 territoires, dont le Royaume-Uni, l'Allemagne, le Brésil et la Chine.
