Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill and Ice Cube are in talks to star in a new sequel titled 24 Jump Street at Sony Pictures.
The project marks the third film in the R-rated comedy franchise based on the 1987-1991 Fox series. Rodney Rothman is set to direct from a script he co-wrote with Jonah Hill and Meghan Malloy. Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who directed the first two movies, are returning as producers along with Neal H. Moritz. Tatum and Hill are also producing through their respective companies, Free Association and Strong Baby. The original films, 21 Jump Street from 2012 and 22 Jump Street from 2014, together grossed more than $500 million worldwide. A third installment has been in development for over a decade. At present, Tatum has an offer to return and negotiations are expected to take place soon, according to reports from Variety and Deadline.
