Spyro returns in new game announced at Xbox Games Showcase

Activision and Microsoft revealed Spyro: A Realm Beyond during the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7. The title marks the first original entry in the series in nearly two decades and is scheduled for release in spring 2027.

The game is being developed by Toys for Bob and will launch on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. A trailer highlighted early gameplay with Spyro flying through vibrant landscapes. Original voice actor Tom Kenny is returning to the role. The project uses Unreal Engine 5 and features active flying mechanics that allow players to interact with the environment. Associate creative director Louis Studdert noted that environments react to flight and enable players to propel forward or dive for speed. Sheep will also appear in the game.
