Square Enix sets full price for Octopath Traveler Switch 2 editions

Square Enix announced Nintendo Switch 2 editions of Octopath Traveler and its sequel. The versions feature improved resolution and framerate but require full purchase price with no upgrade option from prior Switch versions.

Announcements for the editions appeared on July 13. A note in the trailer stated there are no plans to sell an upgrade pack from the Nintendo Switch version to the Nintendo Switch 2 version.

The games are scheduled for release on October 1. Save data will not transfer between the two versions. Physical copies can be purchased individually or digitally in separate or bundled formats.

Both titles remain available at discounted prices on the original Nintendo Switch. The Switch 2 editions will cost about the same as the current $60 price point when not on sale.
