Svenske stormester Axel Smith gjør rekordforsøk med 49 blindsjakkpartier

Den svenske stormesteren Axel Smith skal spille 49 sjakkpartier simultant i blinde den 7. mai i Lund. Forsøket har som mål å slå GM Timur Gareyevs rekord, samtidig som det setter fokus på en miljøkampanje mot utvinning av brenntorv.

40 år gamle Smith, som er trener og forfatter av sjakkbøker som Pump Up Your Rating, vil gjennomføre simultanoppvisningen under sjakkturneringen TePe Sigeman i hjembyen Lund, like utenfor Malmø. Han har begrenset erfaring med blindsjakk fra tidligere, etter å ha fullført 15 partier i 2011, og har forberedt seg ved å teste et personlig minnesystem basert på bilder for brett, åpninger og felt.
