Teodoro hits China insincerity, duplicity over arbitral award

Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro Jr. said China showed insincerity and duplicity by rejecting the 2016 arbitral award that invalidated its maritime claims.

On June 28, Teodoro said the Chinese Embassy's reply to the Department of Foreign Affairs opened a window into the true intentions of the Chinese Communist Party.

He stated that it clearly showed their insincerity and duplicity, which are amply personified by their embassy officials.

The DFA rejected the embassy's assertions against the 2016 award, which is considered final and binding under UNCLOS.

The embassy had said the ruling is illegal, null and void as it involved territorial issues.
