Tesla has completed the teardown of its original Model S and Model X assembly line at the Fremont Factory in Northern California. The work finished in 46 days, clearing space for Optimus robot production.
The company posted a video of the decommissioning on July 10. Heavy machinery removed concrete pits, robotic arms, and conveyors during the project.
Production of the vehicles ended in early May after custom orders stopped in April. A final delivery ceremony took place on May 20.
The freed space at the 5.3-million-square-foot plant will support high-volume Optimus manufacturing. Full-scale output is expected to begin in late July or August.
Tesla aims for tens or hundreds of thousands of units annually by the end of 2026. A larger Optimus facility is under construction at Giga Texas.
