Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey is expected to surpass Oppenheimer's domestic box office total of just over $330 million in only 13 days. The film has already reached a running total of $320.1 million stateside.
The Odyssey earned $14.7 million on its second Monday and was projected to add more than $16 million the following day. By the end of Wednesday, the movie is slated to cross the $330 million mark domestically.
Oppenheimer required 595 days to reach the same total. The Odyssey would then rank as Nolan's third highest grossing film in North America, behind The Dark Knight at $534.9 million and The Dark Knight Rises at $448.1 million.
The Odyssey is also Matt Damon's highest grossing movie in a leading role at the domestic box office. Its third weekend is projected to decline by no more than 50 percent amid competition from Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
