Renaissance deputy Thomas Cazenave has received Horizons' investiture for the 2026 Bordeaux municipal elections. Backed by former Juppéist councillors, he aims to unite the center and right against ecologist mayor Pierre Hurmic. This step signals a growing rally of right-wing forces.
In Bordeaux, Renaissance deputy Thomas Cazenave is strengthening his bid for the 2026 municipal elections. Invested this Tuesday by Horizons, Édouard Philippe's party, he adds this label to his Renaissance affiliation. Already backed by Alexandra Siarri and Pierre De Gaétan Njikam, two former municipal councillors from the Juppéist movement and the Bordeaux Ensemble group, Cazenave calls for a 'general mobilization' to unite all center and right-wing forces.
His goal is explicit: to defeat outgoing ecologist mayor Pierre Hurmic, in office since 2020. In an exclusive interview with Le Figaro, Cazenave explains this common front: « Édouard Philippe has a special link to Bordeaux, which is Alain Juppé's city for him. This investiture is a mark of confidence and support from him and all of Horizons, as we share the idea that we must do everything to win… »
This investiture comes after months of efforts for a grand rally, in a city shaped by Alain Juppé's legacy. It bolsters Cazenave's candidacy against other right-wing contenders, like Nicolas Florian, and highlights internal dynamics of the presidential majority ahead of the elections.
