Longtime Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi has announced his first solo album in more than two decades. The record, titled From the Dark, is set for release on October 23 via BMG.
Iommi co-wrote the album with Norwegian metal singer Jørn Lande and co-produced it with frequent collaborator Mike Exeter. Queen's Brian May contributes a guest solo on the track "Death Wake."
The first single, "World Alone," comes with an accompanying music video. In a statement, Iommi said, "It's an album we've really enjoyed making. We're not trying to prove anything."
Speaking to Rolling Stone, Iommi also reflected on life without Ozzy Osbourne. "It's been really strange," he said. "I still don't feel like he's gone because when I look on YouTube or whatever, there's something to do with Ozzy, and I see him again and again. It's almost like he's still here."
The album includes eight tracks, among them "Over The Violent Sun," "Black Times," and "Legacy."
