Xbox to publish Hideo Kojima's horror game OD

Microsoft's Xbox division has agreed to publish Hideo Kojima's upcoming horror title OD after other companies rejected the concept. Kojima described the project as a blend of game, movie and new media form.

The game, first announced in 2023, features actors Sophia Lillis, Hunter Schafer and the late Udo Kier. Director Jordan Peele is also involved.

Kojima said many publishers called the idea crazy and declined to proceed. Former Xbox head Phil Spencer and current leader Asha Sharma supported the vision instead.

OD is designed as a single-player experience that aims to exceed previous limits of fear in games. Kojima added a support system for players who find it too intense.
