AIADMK to protest against DMK on March 13 over transport workers’ demands

The AIADMK has announced a demonstration on March 13 in Chennai against the ruling DMK government for failing to address transport workers' demands. The protest, led by former Minister D. Jayakumar, will take place in front of the Metropolitan Transport Corporation headquarters.

On March 7, 2026, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami stated that the party's transport department workers’ union, Anna Thozhirsanga Peravai, will stage a protest on March 13. The event targets the DMK government's alleged neglect of transport corporations' workers' demands, including wage revision agreements and surrender leave benefits.

The demonstration is set for Pallavan Illam, the headquarters of the Metropolitan Transport Corporation in Chennai, and will be led by former Minister D. Jayakumar. Palaniswami highlighted that during previous AIADMK administrations under M.G. Ramachandran, J. Jayalalithaa, and his own tenure, workers' demands were addressed promptly.

In his statement, Palaniswami accused the DMK of making unfulfillable promises during the 2021 elections and showing little regard for the working class since taking power. He emphasized the need to condemn this oversight through the upcoming protest.
