AIK leaders update talks with Robin Kovacs for SHL push

AIK chairman Stefan Hedelius and CEO Stefan Gustavson confirmed ongoing discussions with forward Robin Kovacs as the club ramps up its bid for promotion to the SHL ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The club officials spoke during a press conference on arena plans in Stockholm. They noted that external capital has supported an increased investment in player acquisitions. Hedelius and Gustavson said they remain in contact with Kovacs after an earlier deal fell through. “Om det finns någon lösning så kommer det ske nu,” Gustavson said, adding that time is running short. The pair highlighted new signings including Jhonas Enroth, Tyler Vesel, Samuel Jonsson, Tim Theocharidis and Olli Vainio. They also stressed the need for at least one more forward and the value of developing young players within the organization. AIK plans to open the season in Avicii Arena against Modo, with hopes of selling out the venue.
