The God of War live-action series, ordered for two seasons on Amazon Prime Video, continues to build its cast with the addition of Max Parker in the role of Heimdall. As reported by Variety and Deadline, Parker joins Ryan Hurst, who was announced last week as Kratos, and Teresa Palmer as Sif. The show, created by Ronald D. Moore under his Tall Ship Productions banner, picks up the narrative from the 2018 God of War game and its sequel Ragnarok. In the story, father and son Kratos and Atreus embark on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye, while Kratos teaches his son to be a better god and Atreus helps his father become a better human.
Heimdall is described as the Watchman of Asgard and one of Odin's sons, a god with the ability to anticipate events. He is handsome and dynamic but feels unappreciated by his father and underestimated by his family, constantly seeking to improve his position. Parker's recent credits include starring as Sgt. Liam Robert Sullivan in Netflix's "Boots," along with roles in "Vampire Academy," "Emmerdale," and "Blood, Sex & Royalty."
Pre-production is underway in Vancouver, with filming reportedly set to begin in March 2026. Frederick E.O. Toye will direct the first two episodes. Executive producers include Moore, Maril Davis, Cory Barlog, Naren Shankar, and others from Sony Pictures Television, Amazon MGM Studios, PlayStation Productions, and Tall Ship.
