Atomfall game to receive TV adaptation

Publisher Rebellion has announced a television adaptation of its action-survival game Atomfall. The project is led by Emmy and Golden Globe-winning writers Harry and Jack Williams. No casting or release details have been disclosed.

Rebellion, the UK publisher, and Two Brothers Pictures revealed plans for the TV series based on Atomfall, Rebellion's 2025 action-survival title. The game, which won Best British Game at the 2026 BAFTA Game Awards, draws inspiration from the 1957 Windscale disaster. Set in a quarantine zone in England's Lake District, it explores post-war Britain's identity crisis, nuclear paranoia, and isolation in a small town. The story originated from an idea by Rebellion co-founder Jason Kingsley, offering a British perspective on the post-apocalyptic genre. Jason Kingsley and his brother Chris Kingsley will serve as executive producers alongside Harry and Jack Williams and Alex Mercer. The Williams brothers, known for Fleabag, The Missing, and The Tourist, will write the series. Harry and Jack Williams stated, “Atomfall has such a distinctive British tone and setting, and it’s been a real joy developing it alongside the Rebellion team - especially as two brothers working alongside two brothers (Jason Kingsley and Chris Kingsley). There’s something very exciting about expanding this strange, unsettling story for television.” Jason and Chris Kingsley added in a joint statement, “We are delighted to be partnering with Two Brothers to bring the world of Atomfall to television. Harry and Jack demonstrated a clear love for Atomfall and talked about their own particular endings when they were playing the game. It is always exciting to work with people who share the same passion for creating and telling great stories and we are sure that this partnership will help to deliver a television series that will delight fans of the game and beyond.”
