BAFTA removes The Quiet Things trailer from awards showcase

BAFTA has pulled the trailer for upcoming game The Quiet Things from its Game Awards showcase due to content concerns. Silver Script Games founder Alyx Jones says organizers cited insufficient time for audience warnings. Jones expressed frustration over repeated silencing of trauma narratives.

The Quiet Things, an autobiographical narrative game from Silver Script Games, explores founder Alyx Jones' experiences with mental health issues, childhood abuse, and trauma. The trailer was set to appear at the BAFTA Game Awards on April 17, 2026, but organizers removed it at the last minute. Jones received a phone call the night before, informed that there was not enough time to implement appropriate content warnings for the audience. When she offered to make changes, her suggestions were ignored, she said in a LinkedIn post. Jones voiced deep disappointment, noting this incident echoes past experiences where doors closed due to uncomfortable subject matter. 'What has upset me so much is not just the decision, but how this happens to me over and over,' she wrote. 'Art should make people feel something.' The game aims to highlight trauma, survival, and the impact of silencing survivors, making the removal particularly painful for Jones, who shared the full trailer on LinkedIn. BAFTA responded in a statement, saying the decision was made in consideration of its guests while affirming support for games tackling difficult subjects.
