Bmkg warns of potential heavy rain in various Indonesian regions

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued a national weather forecast on Saturday (February 14, 2026), highlighting the potential for heavy to very heavy rain in regions including Kepulauan Bangka Belitung, Bengkulu, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, East Java, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, North Maluku, and Central Papua. BMKG forecaster Adelia stated, "Vigilance should be increased for the potential of heavy to very heavy rain in those areas."

For major cities, conditions vary. In Sumatra, Tanjung Pinang is expected to be cloudy, while light rain is possible in Banda Aceh, Medan, Pekanbaru, Padang, Jambi, Pangkal Pinang, Palembang, and Bandar Lampung. Bengkulu may see rain with thunder. On Java, light rain is forecasted for Serang, Bandung, and Semarang; moderate intensity in Yogyakarta; and rain with thunder in Jakarta and Surabaya.

In Kalimantan, Pontianak, Banjarmasin, and Samarinda face thick clouds, with light rain in Palangka Raya and Tanjung Selor. Bali and Nusa Tenggara anticipate light rain in Denpasar and Mataram, and thundery rain in Kupang. Sulawesi includes thick clouds in Palu, fog in Mamuju, light rain in Manado, Gorontalo, and Makassar, and thundery rain in Kendari.

Eastern Indonesian areas like Ternate, Ambon, Sorong, Manokwari, Nabire, and Jayapura may experience light rain, while Jayawijaya and Merauke face moderate intensity. BMKG urges the public to monitor weather updates to prepare for any impacts on daily activities.
