British Para Dressage squad shortlist named for 2026 Worlds

The British para dressage squad shortlist for the 2026 World Championships in Aachen has been announced, featuring Paralympic gold medallists Sir Lee Pearson and Sophie Wells among eight nominated combinations.

The shortlist targets the event scheduled for 11-23 August in Germany, which serves as the main qualification route for the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympics. Four definite entries are expected to be confirmed in mid-July.

Three combinations from last summer’s Europeans remain on the list: Mari Durward-Akhurst with Athene Lindebjerg, Jemima Green with Fantabulous, and Nicola Naylor with Humberto L. Sir Lee Pearson with Breezer joins them as a strong contender based on recent form.

Nicola Naylor also brings Moulin Rouge to the shortlist alongside Humberto L, while Sophie Wells is nominated with both LJT Egebjerggards Samoa and MSJ Gold Standard. Erin Orford with LJT Nutbush completes the eight-strong group.

On current Grand Prix B averages, the strongest potential team would include Durward-Akhurst, Green, Naylor with Humberto L, and Pearson. The final domestic international at Hartpury from 1-5 July could influence the final selections.
