Cam'ron reflects on close friendship with late Mac Miller

Rap veteran Cam'ron has opened up about his deep bond with the late Mac Miller, describing their relationship as going far beyond music collaborations. In a recent episode of his YouTube series 'Talk With Flee,' he shared fond memories of their hangouts and expressed shock over Miller's 2018 death.

Cam'ron's Personal Reflections

Cam'ron, the Dipset legend, reminisced about his friendship with Mac Miller during the latest installment of his YouTube show 'Talk With Flee.' He emphasized that their connection was genuine and multifaceted, not solely centered on recording music. 'That was my friend. We didn’t always do music. He would come to my crib and we’d just watch TV and snap on Skitzo [my producer and friend]. Mac Miller was hilarious,' Cam'ron said.

The rapper highlighted how Miller's visits brought joy to his family. His late mother was particularly fond of the Pittsburgh native. 'My mother — God bless the dead — loved Mac Miller because she would hear Mac Miller’s at the house and she’d say, ‘Yo, put on Twitter that you’re at my house.’ And he would tag my mother on Twitter and she would get, like, a thousand followers,' Cam'ron recalled. Despite multiple visits—around 10 or 11 times—they only produced three songs together, underscoring the casual nature of their time spent.

'I really f*cked with that kid,' Cam'ron added, praising Miller's sense of humor and cool demeanor outside the studio.

Reaction to Miller's Death

Mac Miller passed away in 2018 at age 26 from an accidental overdose. Cam'ron expressed disbelief upon learning the cause. 'When I was with him, I never saw him do no type of drugs so when I saw that shit come out [about his death], I was like, ‘What the f*ck?!'” he stated, still visibly affected by the tragedy.

Collaborations and Plans

The duo collaborated on tracks like 'Ignorant' and 'Dig That.' In a 2012 XXL interview, Miller discussed their joint efforts: 'Me and Cam are actually talking about doing a project together. We don’t know when we’re gonna do it. We have three or four songs recorded already.' He described their dynamic as fun and productive, blending soulful hip-hop with harder elements while learning from Cam'ron's experience.

Their story highlights an unexpected but meaningful partnership in hip-hop, remembered for laughter and mutual respect.
