Camila Giorgi picks husband as coach for 2027 return

Camila Giorgi has decided her husband will coach her after she gives birth, ending her father's long role in her career. The Italian player is due in early September and plans a full WTA Tour comeback in 2027. She is training three hours a day while pregnant.

Giorgi said her father Sergio will now only be a grandfather. "My father will just be a grandfather, that’s all," she stated in an interview. Her husband Andreas Ignacio Pasutti, an Argentine whom she married in Buenos Aires on February 26, will take over coaching duties.

The player has trained seriously throughout her pregnancy with a fitness trainer and medical team. She described her approach as logical and planned rather than instinctive. Giorgi left the tour in 2024 without a formal announcement, and her name appeared on the ITIA retired list that May.

She has denied rumors of tax issues and said the break was voluntary. Giorgi aims to return at an Italian event, possibly starting with smaller tournaments before full tour level. All plans depend on her giving birth first.
