Rescue operations for the landslide in Cibeunying Village, Cilacap, Central Java, entered their seventh day on November 19, 2025, with the death toll reaching 20 and three others still missing. The search has been extended to 10 days following family requests and BNPB orders. Local authorities are preparing relocation land for affected residents.
On Wednesday, November 19, 2025, the joint SAR team in Cibeunying Village, Majenang District, Cilacap Regency, Central Java, recovered two more bodies from the landslide debris. According to the latest data from the Emergency Landslide Disaster Handling Field Post, the total death toll now stands at 20 people.
"The death toll is 20 people, with three others still reported missing," stated Abdul Muhari, Head of the BNPB Data, Information, and Disaster Communication Center, in his statement on the same day.
The SAR operation was initially set for seven days under the Search Missing Coordinator (SMC) procedure standards of Basarnas. However, it has been extended to 10 days based on several factors, including requests from victims' families, the remaining three missing individuals, and orders from the BNPB Head as the emergency response commander. Basarnas, as the lead agency, has decided to extend the search period by three additional days.
Tomorrow's search efforts will focus on worksite A1, suspected to hold one victim, and worksite B1 with two potential victims.
Meanwhile, Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman announced the preparation of 3.9 hectares of land for building temporary housing (huntara) and permanent housing (huntap) for affected residents. The site is located in Jenang Village, Majenang District, about two kilometers from Cibeunying Village. Data collection for recommended relocation families is ongoing, with 296 household heads recorded so far.
Construction of huntara is being accelerated to provide displaced residents with better shelter soon. Currently, evacuees are sheltered at three main sites: Cibeunying Village Hall, MTS SS Cibeunying, and Baeturrohman Wanasari Mosque.
