Companies turn to Caveman to keep AI spending in check

A new program called Caveman aims to shorten AI responses and cut token use by 65 percent. At the same time companies report sharply rising costs for artificial intelligence.

The Caveman tool was created so systems like ChatGPT and Claude limit themselves to essentials. It avoids polite phrases and lengthy explanations. As a result the token requirement for text generation drops sharply.

A manager at a large German industrial group said AI spending had at least doubled since the start of the year. The company therefore introduced usage reports to sharpen cost awareness.

Tokens have become an important production factor in software development. Rising bills are forcing companies to maintain oversight of their AI budgets.
