Connor Bedard undergoes shoulder surgery ahead of NHL season

Chicago Blackhawks center Connor Bedard has had surgery on his left shoulder and is expected to miss about four months. The injury occurred last week during an on-ice session in Western Canada.

The team announced the news on July 8, describing it as a significant setback before the upcoming NHL season. Bedard is projected to make a full recovery, according to club physician Michael Terry.

Last season Bedard recorded 30 goals and 45 assists in 69 games. General Manager Kyle Davidson previously praised the 20-year-old, saying he took a major step forward in all aspects of his game.

Bedard has dealt with prior injuries, including a right-shoulder issue that caused him to miss 12 games last season. As a restricted free agent, the timing of his recovery could influence upcoming contract talks.

The absence places added responsibility on teammates such as forward Anton Frondell.
