Connor McDavid wins Ted Lindsay Award for fifth time

Connor McDavid received the Ted Lindsay Award on Sunday for the 2025/26 NHL season. The Edmonton Oilers captain earned the honor for the fifth time in his career, matching a mark set by Wayne Gretzky.

The award recognizes the league's most outstanding player as voted by fellow players through the NHL Players' Association. McDavid previously won in the 2016/17, 2017/18, 2020/21 and 2022/23 seasons. This award, which comes from the players you meet every night and compete against every night, that they choose to recognize me with such an award means a lot, McDavid said, according to Sportsnet. Other finalists were Macklin Celebrini of the San Jose Sharks, who recorded 115 points, and Nikita Kucherov of the Tampa Bay Lightning, a three-time winner. McDavid finished the regular season with 138 points in 82 games.
