Daniel Craig to film prison drama in Greece

Hollywood stars including Daniel Craig, Cillian Murphy, and Michelle Williams are set to shoot a new prison film directed by Damien Chazelle in Greece. The untitled project, a gritty drama with action elements, will use locations in Athens and Corfu starting in mid-March 2026. This marks Craig's return to the country after filming there in 2021.

Several prominent actors, such as Daniel Craig, Cillian Murphy, and Michelle Williams, are preparing to film a major feature in Greece under the direction of Oscar-winning filmmaker Damien Chazelle. The production, distributed by Paramount Pictures and produced by Chazelle's Wild Chickens Productions, is described by industry sources as a gritty prison drama. It also features Mia Threapleton in the cast, with early 2026 reports indicating Dave Bautista in talks for a key role.

Chazelle, known for visually ambitious works like La La Land and Babylon, has written and produced this untitled film, which draws inspiration from the gritty tone of 1970s New Hollywood cinema. Industry analysts call it a "classic prison film with action elements."

For Daniel Craig, the shoot represents a return to Greece, where he filmed Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery in Spetses and Porto Heli during the summer of 2021. Filming for the new project is scheduled from mid-March through late May 2026 across Athens and the Ionian island of Corfu. The production spans 10 weeks and highlights Corfu's historic prison for its authentic atmosphere, making it one of Greece's largest film projects this year.

This endeavor underscores Greece's rising status as a hub for international productions, leveraging its unique architecture and locations.
