In the Western Conference, the 25-year-old Israeli forward Avdija delivered a standout performance, averaging 26.8 points, 8.3 rebounds and 9.8 assists per game. This marked a career-high stretch for Avdija, who has been serving as the Blazers' de facto point guard since mid-November amid team injuries. His efforts powered Portland to a 3-1 record, including a triple-double in a 115-110 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday. Avdija, now in his second season with the Blazers after a trade from the Washington Wizards, is averaging nearly 26 points, over seven rebounds and assists this season—all personal bests. He becomes the 14th player in franchise history to win the award and the first since Damian Lillard on February 6, 2023.
In the East, Maxey shone with 34.7 points, 8.7 assists and a 61.2% shooting clip. The Blazers, holding a 16-20 record, were set to host the 12-22 Utah Jazz at Moda Center that evening at 7 p.m.
