DJ Premier announces December 12 release for Nas album

DJ Premier has revealed that his long-awaited collaborative album with Nas will drop on December 12, 2025, as the final entry in Mass Appeal's Legend Has It… series. The announcement came during a tour stop in Bristol, England, exciting fans who have anticipated the project since 2006. This untitled release follows a teaser single from April 2024 and builds on the duo's storied partnership.

Announcement Details

DJ Premier shared the release date during the second show of his world tour with The Alchemist in Bristol, England, on November 20, 2025. He hyped the crowd by asking, “How many people are ready for that Nas-Premier album? December 12th, get ready motherfuckers,” before performing their classic track “Represent” from Nas's 1994 album Illmatic.

The project marks the culmination of discussions dating back to 2006 between the frequent collaborators. Initially teased for a late 2024 release via the single “Define My Name” in April, it was incorporated into Mass Appeal's Legend Has It… series, which revives classic hip-hop acts.

Legend Has It… Series Context

This series has already featured posthumous and comeback albums from Slick Rick, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Mobb Deep, and Big L, with De La Soul's Cabin In The Sky—including singles “Day In The Sun” and “The Package”—set for release shortly after the announcement. Nas has contributed features to every prior Legend Has It… album this year, alongside appearances on tracks like Steel Banglez’ “Times.” DJ Premier, meanwhile, has released joint projects with Roc Marciano and Ransom and is currently touring the U.K. and Europe.

Artist Insights

Nas expressed enthusiasm in an October 2025 Rolling Stone interview: “I can’t wait for people to finally hear it... it was personally a long time coming for us to do it.” He added that the album incorporates at least two long-discussed creative ideas: “We didn’t get a chance to do ’em when we were talking about ’em, but we finally got a chance to put those recordings together this year.”

The confirmation satisfies hip-hop fans eager for what promises to be a high-caliber addition to 2025's strong year of rap releases.
