Egypt and Jordan agree to boost energy and mining ties

Egypt's Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi and Jordan's Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Al-Kharabsheh met in Amman to expand cooperation in natural gas, mining and energy infrastructure.

The ministers agreed to form joint technical working groups to advance projects in these sectors. Badawi highlighted Egypt's interest in deepening ties with Jordan in energy and mining, building on existing natural gas links and exploring phosphate mining opportunities.

Al-Kharabsheh described the partnership as a model for Arab energy integration. He noted Jordan is close to signing deals with two Egyptian firms for natural gas distribution in the industrial cities of Ma’an and Al Muwaqqar.

Talks also covered green hydrogen, ammonia production and greater involvement of Egyptian companies such as Fajr Jordan Egyptian, Petrojet, Enppi and Gas Misr in Jordanian projects. The meeting was attended by Egypt’s Ambassador to Jordan Khaled El Abyad and other officials.
