Ekko Astral puts band on indefinite hiatus

Washington D.C. punks Ekko Astral announced they are disbanding for the foreseeable future. The group said it will place the band on indefinite hiatus to focus on other projects. It also canceled plans to release its album The Beltway Is Burning any time soon.

The band posted a statement on social media July 15. “It’s time to end things,” the members wrote. “We are putting the band on indefinite hiatus to prioritize other musical projects.”

Two final concerts remain scheduled. A free outdoor performance is set for August 22 in New York City. A finale show will take place August 27 in Washington D.C. with Right Chipper and Berra.

The group formed in 2021 and released its debut album Pink Balloons in 2024. Members said the upcoming shows will cover their full catalog and serve as a celebration send-off. Proceeds from a raffle of the Pink Balloons album cover painting will go to Whitman-Walker Clinic for trans health services.
