Ethiopia launches first land account report and natural resources roadmap

The Ministry of Planning and Development has unveiled Ethiopia's first land account statement report and natural resources accounting roadmap in Addis Ababa. The document will help register water, carbon, ecosystems and other natural assets at the national level.

State Minister of Planning and Development Bereket Fissehatsion said the roadmap is linked to the domestic economy and will strengthen national land data registration capacity.

World Bank Operational Manager Julian Victor stated that the roadmap will modernize the land asset registration process. He confirmed that registration is an ongoing task and that the institution will continue its support.

The strategic guidance will help integrate natural capital into the national budget and statistics system. Land is described as an all-encompassing asset whose updated accounting system is needed to facilitate growth.
