Ex-BioWare team uses podcast to build new game

North Mist Studios is developing its first game by releasing a narrative podcast called The Concierge. The Canadian indie studio was founded in 2024 by former BioWare staff. It aims to share world-building publicly through audio dramas.

The studio formed after a meeting at an ice cream shop and includes narrative veterans Mary Kirby, Sarah Hayward, and Sylvia Feketekuty. It has chosen not to wait for finished concepts or vertical slices before revealing its project.

Instead, the team is releasing prequel audio dramas set in the game's world. The Concierge is a spy thriller office drama now in its second season and takes place in a near future where personal data protection exceeds the value of money.

The studio has invited listener feedback via the podcast and a Patreon to help shape the setting. It plans to release the first in-engine trailer for the game sometime this summer.
