Garudayaksa FC defeated PSS Sleman on penalties in the Liga 2 Championship 2025/2026 final on Saturday, May 9, 2026.
The final at Maguwoharjo Stadium in Sleman ended dramatically at 2-2 after 120 minutes. Garudayaksa FC won the penalty shootout 4-3 to claim the title.
Both teams displayed high quality. PSS Sleman fought back in the second half after trailing by two goals early on. Yet luck did not favor PSS in the shootout.
House Commission IV Chair Titiek Soeharto, who attended, said the match was exciting and both sides deserved promotion to the Super League. PSS coach Ansyari Lubis admitted his team lost focus in the first half but praised the players' effort.
Garudayaksa FC is now ready to compete in the Super League next season with a solid foundation.
