GIRLSET opens up about redebut and new single Little Miss

Formerly known as VCHA, the four-member girl group GIRLSET has redebuted under JYP Entertainment and Republic Records after overcoming a lawsuit and member departures. In a Billboard interview, members Kendall, Lexi, Camila, and Savanna discuss their K-pop training experiences, resilience, and upcoming single 'Little Miss' set for November 14, 2025. They emphasize growth, camaraderie, and representing multicultural diversity in the pop world.

Background and Formation

GIRLSET originated from the 2023 competition show A2K, a collaboration between JYP Entertainment and Republic Records aimed at creating a multicultural girl group blending Western and K-pop elements. Originally debuting as VCHA in January 2024 with six members and the single 'Girls of the Year,' the group faced challenges including a December 2024 lawsuit by former member KG alleging child neglect and labor exploitation, which JYP called 'false and exaggerated.' Activities were suspended, and in July 2025, 15-year-old member Kaylee departed due to health concerns, leaving Kendall, Lexi, Camila, and Savanna.

Redebut and New Era

The quartet redebuted as GIRLSET on August 7, 2025, with the single 'Commas,' signaling a confident reset with a girl-crush concept. 'We’ve been here the whole time. Pay attention,' the group conveys through their music. JYP Entertainment praises their unique path, stating, 'They’ve walked a path no artist has taken before, and we hope this original journey leads them to a new level of success.'

Insights from Members

In a Hollywood interview, the members reflected on the K-pop training system's rigor. Lexi, 19, shared, 'I had to keep reminding myself, “You’re doing this for you.” Whatever happens, happens. I love what I do.' Camila, 20, embraced the opportunity: 'I always wanted to be a singer... So when the opportunity came, I told myself, “I’m getting it.”' They credit mutual support for navigating turmoil, with Kendall noting, 'Everything happens for a reason.'

New Single and Future

'Little Miss,' releasing November 14, 2025, features Y2K-flavored pop with hip-hop edges, capturing their essence. Savanna said, 'This new music era feels a lot like... the core of us.' The group addresses comparisons to peers like KATSEYE, who earned Grammy nominations, but focuses on collaboration: 'Let’s just slay together,' per Camila. They aim to represent authenticity and diversity, with Lexi adding, 'Being able to bring different communities together is such a great feeling.'
