Indonesia's Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources ensures tight stocks of fuel oil (BBM) and LPG ahead of the closely spaced Christmas 2025 and Eid al-Fitr 2026 holidays. Dirjen Migas Laode Sulaeman highlights the expected surge in demand for both commodities. Pertamina is boosting production and imports to maintain supply.
Jakarta – Indonesia's Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), through Director General of Oil and Gas Laode Sulaeman, has affirmed its commitment to maintaining stocks of fuel oil (BBM) and LPG in the coming months. This is due to the close proximity between Christmas 2025 and Eid al-Fitr 2026, which is expected to boost demand for both commodities.
"So we are really guarding this (BBM stock), because the period from Christmas to Eid is very close," Laode said at the ESDM Ministry in Jakarta on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.
ESDM Minister Bahlil Lahadalia is also monitoring the situation by checking BBM stock availability to keep it above 20 days. "He (the ESDM Minister) must check the stock (BBM) before the weekend ends, that's the most important. Because the graph will rise in December with Christmas," Laode stated.
Separately, Pertamina Patra Niaga President Director Mars Ega Legowo Putra said the company will increase stocks through additional refinery production and imports. For Pertalite, the additional import volume is 1.4 million kiloliters to prepare for Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026, without exceeding the government quota.
"As of today, stock is at 20.2 days nationally, and we will continue to increase it," Mars Ega said. He targets stock resilience above 21 days, even 22-23 days. For Pertamax Turbo, there are additional imports and production from Cilacap Refinery and Balongan Refinery.
This strategy aims to ensure stable supply during the extended holiday period, avoiding shortages that have occurred in the past.
