Gracie Abrams sets acting debut in Halina Reijn's A24 film

Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams will make her acting debut in "Please," an upcoming A24 movie written and directed by Halina Reijn. The project marks Reijn's third collaboration with the studio following her previous successes. Plot details remain under wraps.

Gracie Abrams, known for her rising stardom in music, is stepping into acting with her debut role in "Please," a new film from A24. Directed and written by Halina Reijn, who helmed the erotic thriller "Babygirl" in 2024, the movie reunites Reijn with producer David Hinojosa for the third time. Reijn will produce through her Man Up Film banner, with A24 handling production and financing, and Zach Nutman serving as executive producer.

This project follows Reijn's growing partnership with A24. Her 2022 satirical slasher "Bodies Bodies Bodies" and 2024's "Babygirl," which grossed $64 million worldwide, highlight the studio's support for her work. A24 also acquired Reijn's debut feature, "Instinct," from 2019.

Abrams burst onto the music scene in 2019 with EPs "Minor" and "This Is What It Feels Like," blending indie folk and pop elements. Her 2023 debut album "Good Riddance" earned a Grammy nomination for best new artist. The 2024 sophomore album "The Secret of Us" featured hits like "Close To You," her first solo entry on the Billboard Hot 100, and "I Love You, I’m Sorry," which reached No. 11 on U.S. Spotify charts. The deluxe edition single "That’s So True" topped the U.S. Spotify chart with over 100 million streams and peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2025, Abrams received a best pop duo/group performance Grammy nod for "Us," her duet with Taylor Swift.

Abrams' transition to acting aligns with her family ties; her father is filmmaker J.J. Abrams, known for "Star Wars," "Star Trek," "Alias," and "Lost."

No release date for "Please" has been announced.
