GTA Online releases Safehouse in the Hills update with Michael missions

Rockstar Games launched the A Safehouse in the Hills update for GTA Online on December 10, 2025, introducing luxury mansions and the return of Michael De Santa. Players can purchase high-end properties and complete new storyline missions, including the $500,000-paying Home Sweet Home. The update also adds vehicles, a mission creator, and various gameplay improvements via Title Update 1.72.

Overview

The A Safehouse in the Hills update brings a taste of luxury to GTA Online, letting players buy one of three mansions in Los Santos: Richman Villa, Tongva Estate, or Vinewood Residence. Each property costs over $11 million and offers exclusive features like fast travel to other holdings, an AI Assistant with personalities (Angel, Haviland, or OG), and a master control terminal for remote business management. Amenities include a 20-car garage, rooftop helipad with a Volatus helicopter, gym for stat boosts, pool, hot tub, pet kennel for dogs or cats, and customizable rooms such as an armory, arcade, and vehicle workshop. Enhanced security reduces raid risks on owned businesses.

New Missions and Michael De Santa

To access the content, players visit the Prix Luxury Real Estate website to buy a mansion, then head to a marked "A" icon in downtown Los Santos to meet Avi Schwartzman. This triggers five setup missions in the KnoWay Out storyline, where players sabotage a self-driving taxi company. After completion, Avi calls to introduce the main mission, Home Sweet Home, featuring Michael De Santa and his wife Amanda as neighbors. Michael, now a movie producer, hints at returning to crime. The mission rewards $500,000 on the first playthrough and can be replayed, supporting 1-4 players with new awards and career challenges.

Vehicles and Additions

Five new vehicles debut: Vapid FMJ MK V and Progen Luiva (initially GTA+ exclusive), Pfister X-treme, Übermacht Sentinel XS4, and Grotti GT750. Missile Lock-On Jammer upgrades are available for various cars, bikes, and aircraft in agency or hangar workshops. Other features include a Getaway Driver random event, four new emotes, and the Rockstar Mission Creator for custom missions. GTA+ members get early access perks and remote staff management via the Vinewood Club App.

Patch Notes Highlights

Title Update 1.72 includes stability fixes, matchmaking improvements, and content tweaks, such as better load times, adjusted heist cuts, and resolutions for mission bugs in areas like Cayo Perico and VIP Contracts.
