Hammarby wins derby after questionable penalty

Hammarby became the new leader in damallsvenskan after a 2-0 win over Djurgården in the Stockholm derby.

Elin Sørum scored both goals for Hammarby at a rainy Stockholm stadium. The Norwegian opened the scoring in the fifth minute when she picked up the ball in the penalty area and made it 1-0.

Five minutes into the second half the referee awarded a penalty after contact from Djurgården’s Elin Westlund on Sørum. The decision was debatable but Sørum placed the ball into the top corner for 2-0.

Bajen now has maximum points after four rounds and tops the table level with Häcken but with a better goal difference. Djurgården has played one more match and sits on four points.
