IBK Lund qualifies for SSL after bus crash

IBK Lund has qualified for the top Swedish men's floorball league SSL for the first time, over a year after a serious bus accident. The team secured the spot with a 6–1 victory over Karlstad at Lunds Idrottshall on Tuesday evening. Celebrations erupted among players and fans.

IBK Lund defeated Karlstad 6–1 in the decisive match, securing a 3–1 series win and qualification for SSL. The game took place before cheering home fans at Lunds Idrottshall.

Coach Ola Persson expressed delight in Innebandy Play: "This is so magical for the guys. I am so happy and proud for their sake."

Goalkeeper David Henningsson called it "the most fun match I have played in my entire life." He added: "It is such an experience to do it in front of our fantastic crowd and after everything we have been through as a team, it is something incredibly beautiful how we approach this match."

The serious bus accident occurred on January 11, 2025, when the team's bus overturned en route to an away game. Several players suffered serious injuries.
