Iceage release first single in five years

Danish band Iceage have returned with their first original song in five years, titled “Star.” The jangly love song marks a new direction for the group following their 2021 album Seek Shelter. A music video accompanies the release, directed by Thinh T. Petrus Nguyen.

Iceage, the Danish punk band, released “Star” on March 11, 2026, via Mexican Summer. This single is their first new original material since the 2021 album Seek Shelter, which followed 2018’s Beyondless. In the intervening years, the band issued a compilation, Shake the Feeling: Outtakes & Rarities 2015–2021, in 2022, featuring outtakes from Beyondless.

Frontman Elias Rønnenfelt has been active with solo projects during this period. He released Heavy Glory in 2024 and Speak Daggers in 2025. Additionally, in 2025, Rønnenfelt contributed to the Dean Blunt EP Lucre.

According to a press release, Iceage approach each album as an “evolutionary jump and a new vein of playing.” “Star” embodies this with its jangly energy, hand-claps, and a more animated style compared to their previous gritty love songs. The track review highlights its novelty within the band’s five-record discography.

The release includes a music video directed by Thinh T. Petrus Nguyen. Iceage have announced one tour date: an August 14 performance at Syd for Solen in Copenhagen. No further details on a potential sixth album have been confirmed, though the band’s history suggests ongoing evolution.
