The Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI) has officially announced 20 players to represent the country in badminton at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand. The release, issued on Friday, November 28, 2025, features significant changes from the previous long list.
The player list was announced by PBSI's Head of Achievement and Development, Eng Hian, who stated that the additions resulted from a final review with the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora). Gregoria Mariska Tunjung in women's singles and the men's doubles pair Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani have been officially included. Meanwhile, Raymond Indra, Nikolaus Joaquin, and Thalita Ramadhani Wiryawan were dropped from the initial list released on November 3.
"The addition of these names is a strategic step to present the best composition. The target of two golds is a national mandate, and PBSI is fully ready to support Kemenpora's program," said Eng Hian.
Several stars such as Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Fikri, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, and Jonatan Christie are absent for personal reasons. Fajar is getting married and planning umrah pilgrimage, Ginting is awaiting the birth of his first child, while Jonatan is recovering from injury and focusing on the World Tour Finals.
Eng Hian emphasized that the 2025 SEA Games is a key moment for player regeneration. "Regeneration is a long-term investment. We want Indonesia to remain dominant, not just now but for the next five to ten years," he asserted. He is optimistic that the mix of experienced players and young talents will maintain Indonesia's supremacy in Southeast Asian badminton.
