Johnny Knoxville claims credit for Simi Valley explosion during Jackass wrap

Johnny Knoxville took responsibility for a massive explosion on the final day of filming Jackass: Best and Last in Simi Valley. Locals reportedly mistook the blast for a plane crash, sparking concern. The stunt capped 26 years of the franchise, with the film set for theaters on June 26.

Johnny Knoxville shared a video on Instagram showing a plume of smoke rising from the site of the explosion. 'Apparently people thought a plane had crashed yesterday in Simi Valley,' he wrote. 'Little did they know it was from a monstrous explosion @jemfxpopov created for us for the final day ever of @jackass filming.' The co-creator and star said the cast stood nearby and watched in awe before hugging the effects specialist, Elia Popov, and his crew. 'Thank you to Elia, his crew and the rest of our amazing crew yesterday to make sure we went out with a bang. 26 years and that’s a wrap!! Coming to theater June 26th, Jackass: Best and Last.' Jackass, co-created by Knoxville, Jeff Tremaine and Spike Jonze, originally aired for three seasons on MTV from 2000 to 2001. It spawned films including Jackass: The Movie in 2002, Jackass Number Two in 2006, Jackass 3D in 2010 and Jackass Forever in 2022. This fifth installment marks the end of the series. Knoxville debuted the trailer for Jackass: Best and Last at Paramount’s CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas.
