Kit Harington felt odd kissing Sophie Turner in The Dreadful

Kit Harington shared his awkward experience kissing former Game of Thrones co-star Sophie Turner in their new horror movie The Dreadful. The actors, who played siblings Jon Snow and Sansa Stark, reunited for romantic scenes that felt strange after nearly a decade of onscreen family ties. Despite the discomfort, Harington highlighted how their friendship reignited on set.

Background on the Reunion

Kit Harington and Sophie Turner, known for portraying siblings Jon Snow and Sansa Stark across eight seasons of HBO's Game of Thrones—which ended in 2019—reunited last fall to film The Dreadful. In the Gothic horror film, directed by Natasha Kermani, Turner plays Anne, living on the outskirts of 15th-century society with her mother-in-law Morwen. Harington portrays a man from their past whose return disrupts Anne's life. The cast also includes Marcia Gay Harden, Laurence O’Fuarain, and Jonathan Howard.

Awkward Kissing Scenes

Harington told E! News that Turner sent him the script, but he immediately noticed the romantic elements. "I was like, ‘These guys, these are lovers, right?’ I felt very odd about that," he said. The kissing scenes were particularly challenging due to their shared history. Turner had previously described the experience as "vile" during an August appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, recounting how both actors were "retching" on set. Harington added a humorous note about the physical logistics: "It was slightly embarrassing, having to get on an apple box to kiss her because she’s about a foot taller than me. But other than that, my dignity was pretty intact."

Positive Aspects

Despite the oddity, Harington emphasized the joy of working together again. "What was lovely is that we got on set together and our friendship completely ignited again. It felt like being with family. It really did," he shared. A release date for The Dreadful has not been announced.
