Oscar winner Laura Dern will portray Miami Herald investigative reporter Julie K. Brown in an untitled limited series from Sony Pictures Television. The production adapts Brown's book 'Perversion of Justice: The Jeffrey Epstein Story,' detailing her probe into Epstein's secret plea deal. No network or streaming platform has been announced.
The series offers an account of Brown's relentless investigation, which identified 80 victims, convinced key survivors to speak publicly and contributed to the arrests of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. Sharon Hoffman, known for 'The Morning Show,' and Eileen Myers, from 'The Night Agent,' will co-write and co-showrun the project, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Dern previously earned an Emmy for her role in HBO's 'Big Little Lies' alongside Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon, and an Oscar for 'Marriage Story.' She also appeared in 'Jurassic Park,' 'Blue Velvet,' Apple TV+'s 'Palm Royale' and headlined HBO's 'Enlightened.'
