Macarena Salazar vence o primeiro Ironman 70.3 de Puerto Varas

A triatleta chilena Macarena Salazar venceu a categoria elite feminina no Itaú Ironman 70.3 inaugural em Puerto Varas, registrando o tempo de 4 horas, 7 minutos e 10 segundos. O evento atraiu mais de 1.400 atletas na região de Los Lagos, no Chile, neste domingo.

A prova começou às 09:00 na margem do Lago Llanquihue. Devido às condições climáticas, o percurso de natação foi reduzido para 750 metros, enquanto os 90 km de ciclismo e os 21,1 km de corrida permaneceram inalterados.

Salazar liderou desde a natação, distanciando-se durante o ciclismo e mantendo um ritmo constante na corrida. "Estou muito feliz. Não esperava, porque havia atletas muito boas na largada. Meu objetivo era ficar entre as cinco primeiras e venci", disse a vencedora. A argentina Romina Biagioli terminou em segundo lugar com 4:13:05, seguida por Laura Mathews em terceiro, com 4:14:21.

Na prova masculina, o alemão Marcel Bolbat venceu com o tempo de 3:25:30, à frente do argentino Luciano Taccone (3:35:29) e do chileno Martín Baeza (3:35:53). "Foi um dia incrível... O ciclismo foi muito difícil por causa do vento intenso", destacou Bolbat, elogiando a recepção em Puerto Varas.

O evento marca a estreia de Puerto Varas como cidade-sede do Ironman 70.3 no Chile, com premiações também para outras categorias.
