A 49-year-old man is suspected of murdering his former partner in Värnhem. He is now being hunted by police and is believed to have left the country.
The man was earlier this year sentenced to a short prison term for assaulting the woman. During the trial she spoke about repeated threats from him.
“He said he would kill me, and if he does not find me others will do it”, the woman stated according to court records. She also described how he repeatedly struck her while she was lying down.
After being released from prison the man is now suspected of carrying out the threats. Police are searching for him in connection with the murder in Värnhem and believe he has fled abroad.
