Man lynched in Ahmedabad over son's marriage dispute; police hunt suspects

Natu Ala Parmar (52) was beaten to death in Ahmedabad over a family dispute linked to his son's marriage. Police have recovered CCTV footage of the assault and booked four suspects under BNS murder provisions. Several teams are searching for the accused across north Gujarat.

Several teams of Ahmedabad City Police have been deployed across north Gujarat to apprehend four persons accused of thrashing Natu Ala Parmar (52) to death in public. The assault occurred near Jivraj bridge on May 2, 2026, around 8:30 pm, over a dispute stemming from Parmar's son Kaushik's marriage to Malvika. An FIR was registered at Anandnagar police station based on Kaushik's complaint, a 25-year-old plumber.

According to the FIR, Kaushik married Malvika four years ago. Six months back, after medical complications, she moved to her parents' home following arguments and did not return. Police recovered CCTV footage showing the attack with iron rods and sticks on the head, leading to grievous injuries and death during treatment at Parekh Hospital.

Kaushik received a call from a friend about the assault; family rushed the bleeding, unconscious victim to hospital by autorickshaw. Friends identified four accused and one unidentified person, booked under BNS sections for murder. Asked why Atrocity Act sections were not added, despite the deceased being Dalit, PI RS Parmar of Anandnagar station said, “It primarily appears that the accused persons are also from a Scheduled Caste. We have deployed teams to apprehend the accused and will know more once they are placed under arrest.”
