Manuel Neuer agrees one-year contract extension at Bayern

Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, 40, will stay with FC Bayern München for another season after the club confirmed the agreement is settled.

Neuer, who has played in the Bundesliga for nearly 20 years, will extend his expiring contract. The official announcement is expected in the coming days, possibly after the final league match against Köln.

In an April interview Neuer had described contract talks as “totally relaxed” and said he would decide later; the new deal ends that uncertainty. Coach Vincent Kompany had already praised Neuer’s mental motivation in March, and sporting director Max Eberl confirmed the positive outcome this week.

Neuer is also still considering a return to the national team and has not yet ended his playing career.
